2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread
Modified By SERIES 5 on 3/3/2010 10:02:54 PM)

The 2nd Annual Late Model NMCA/ShopHEMI.com Shoot Out and Car Show. This event from June 4th thru 6th is hosted by High Horse Performance (HHP). Josh from HHP will be there to be sure things go smoothly as he did last year. HHP has really set the bar for other shows to hurdle with it's awesome set of categories and awards. HHP is also planning a big participant party where racers, show participants, media, and sponsor can meet and greet. The car show categories, awards, and other show details are posted below.

Note: The NMCA has reserved a block of rooms at the Morgantown Holiday Inn Hotel for participants of the race and show. This Hotel is also the NMCA's official host hotel. The rooms are priced at a discount from the normal event prices. These rooms will go quickly so you may want to make a reservation soon if you plan to stay overnight.

When you make a reservation you must ask for National Muscle Car Block - Code NMC to get the discount.                                   Here's a link to the Hotel Holiday Inn Morgantown

Re: 2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread
Modified By SERIES 5 on 3/14/2010 10:04:17 PM)

Quick question: Who has made reservations to stay overnight for the race or the car show and where are you staying?

I will be up there on Friday, late afternoon to get the trailer located and scope out the show area. I'm staying overnight Friday and Saturday at the Holiday Inn. Note: All the volunteers who will be helping to run the show and their club cars have to meet at the Grove early in the morning, like 6:45am so we can enter the grounds and won't get out of there until 5:30-6:00pm. I'm pretty sure we all have to go in together like last year. That's why I'm staying overnight, I can't deal with the distance I have to travel and the times I have to be there, lol. I know what your thinking, wimp, right?

Just to let you know if you are a show participant for one day I believe it costs around $25, and for the two days it was $40-$45. If you volunteer to be a helper for the show, usually 1-2 Hrs Sat. or Sun but not both, you get in free for the one day you help, or free for both days if attending. You also receive a NMCA event T-Shirt, which are pretty nice quality shirts with graphics front and back. Now all of this will have to be confirmed but it's what we did last year. Please post any thoughts or suggestions.

Last year you were barely at the Hotel because you were pulling parts off your SRT8 Mag. to give to a racer so he could compete. Now that's sacrifice!

I am reserved @ the Holiday Inn from Friday until Sunday. I don't know yet what time I will be getting there on Friday. I may just try to get my three runs in on Saturday so I can qualify.

Re: 2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread

I think I will attend the show on Saturday only, this will be my first time. Just showing, not racing. How do I go about pre-registering? I went out to the website link, but it was not much help.

Re: 2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread

Hey whats up man!!! Hope your winter was ok! Anyway there is 2 ways to handle this question. First of all as a member of the club you can get in for free if you help work the event. If you don't want to work the event thats cool. As far as pre reg. not to sure they are doing that?

Re: 2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread

Claude, I'm doing OK. Winter was not great - split up with the long time girlfriend (she moved out, I bought her out) and other changes. But, trying to get back on track. Might be able to help work the event on Saturday if you need me to.

Re: 2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread

I'd like to attend the show and volunteer, but I don't think my car is ready to be in a show. I feel slightly ashamed because I have made minor performance mods but nothing really to make it my own.

Damn Bill, you make me feel like low man on the totem pole with that statement!! LOL Anyway, personally, I may not be attending the NMCA show this year. I did have a great time last year but with the indoor show coming up next March, gotta hit an indoor show that is going on that same weekend. Sorry guys!!

On a side note, Bill & Claude...If I give you guys small 4x6 cards for the indoor show I am running, would you guys be willing to get them to the car owners for me?? Let me know your thoughts on this. Bill, we can talk about it when you call me.

Don't be ashamed all you need to do is shine up the car it doesn't matter what you have.  It takes time to make the car in your image I have seen cars at shows with no work done to them except for a good shine and they walk away with top twenty trophies. So show the car and enjoy the day.

Makes me feel a little better! I have a few ideas in mind to really make it stick out. I need to find someone I can trust to custom paint it.

Re: 2nd Annual NMCA Show @ Maple Grove - Discussion Thread

Just to let everyone know I just called the Holiday Inn in Morgantown and there is only 6 rooms left that are NMCA discounted rooms. These discounted rooms are dbl. queen bed rooms @ $105 + tax per night. I asked how many rooms are left besides the NMCA blocked rooms and there are 16 rooms available @ $125 + tax. So if you are planning to go to this event and stay over night and you haven't made reservations yet  you better call the Hotel real soon before they are out of rooms. There are other hotels in the area but the Holiday Inn is the Host Hotel for the NMCA event and there is activities at the hotel that you might miss if you stay some where else.
